Sigh

By me (shadow9119)
There was a soft tump as the backpack hit the floor. The pattering of footsteps was muffled by the carpet, but it was clear that Olea was in a rush. He had just gotten home from school and back to his apartment, and was abandoning his homework in favour of getting ready for the trick-or-treating rush. He burst into his bedroom and ran straight to his closet, pushing clothes aside in search of the costume he had bought.
It took a lot of digging and frustrated grunts, but his eyes finally fell on the costume he'd been looking for. It was a costume modeled on Jim Hawkins from Olea's all-time favourite move, Treasure Planet, complete with a plush toy of the character Morph. And it was folded neatly on the top shelf of the closet.
Olea let out a frustrated huff. He tried in vain to stand as tall as he could to reach it, but he was far too short to even reach the second highest shelf in the closet. Frowning, he thought back to how he had gotten the thing up there in the first place. He remembered using the step ladder that his landlord had let him borrow. Unfortunately, his landlord was out of town visiting family. Olea would have to find another way to get to his costume.
His first priority was the Morph plush. It had been placed right on the edge of the shelf, and he guessed it would be fairly easy to knock the thing down. He went to one of his drawers and pulled out a handful of socks. A fairly organized Sima, the socks were paired up and rolled into balls. He began to throw the sock balls at the plush, grunting as he struggled to throw them hard enough to reach. The first few missed, but after throwing the fourth sock ball at the toy, it was successfully knocked off of the shelf and onto the ground. He picked it up and put it on his bed, then sat for a minute figuring out what to do to get the costume down.
A thought struck him, and he padded out of the room and over to the broom closet. He grabbed the broom and took it back to the bedroom. Walking back to the bedroom closet, he began poking at the costume with the handle of the broom. The broom hit the back wall and knocked something off the back of the shelf. Whatever it was, it shattered as soon as it hit the carpeted floor. Ignoring it, Olea continued trying to pull the costume off of the shelf. He knocked off one of the sock balls that had missed when he tried to knock down the plush toy, and bent down to pick it up. As he did so, the costume fell off of the shelf and landed on his head.
He dropped the broom in surprise, but was pleased that he had knocked the thing off of the shelf. He pulled it off of his head, only to freeze in horror as there was a loud tearing sound. He lifted it more carefully now, and found that the jacket had ripped after being caught on one of his horns. He'd have to sew the hole up now, and only had a few hours to get ready. He sighed audibly; it was going to be one of those nights.
