It was pitiful, she thought as she glanced at her passed out crew mates. Not one of them stood a chance against her in a drinking contest. She sips her rum as she considers her next heist. She wants this one to be big and bold, breaking into the royal treasury to steal some classy jewels to woo the girls at the next island over with. Her plan is risky, but she knows that she and her crew can do it.
That is, if they're not too hungover. Idiots.
The royals at this island are rich and stupid, perfect targets to steal from. The plan was to have the gate burned down, hide in the shadows and ambush the guards before the alarms could go off, and then duck into the treasure room as quickly and quietly as possible. Then we would grab as much loot as possible, and burst straight through the ceiling and fly away.
The plan went to hell almost instantly, because the treasury was nothing more than a wooden shack. She cursed the gods and kicked the door down. A lone treasure chest was in the middle of the room. She opens the chest to find…
Another chest. And another, and another….
She swears furiously at the never ending pile of chests. Her crew backs away from her. She gets down to a chest the size of an apple. She opens it to find a letter and a golden ring with a heart-shaped ruby on it, the letter says:
Dear Atlas,
I hope you have enjoyed your journey to this letter. I wish you would come and join me for a girls night out on the town at shark bay. You’ll find me with a matching ring ;)
Love,
Your secret admirer.
She turns to see her crew staring at her in shock. She glares back at them, but cannot stop smiling at the idea that's she's found herself a girlfriend. She orders the crew back to the ship, to immediately set sail for shark bay.
Between sipping her rum and swearing at her crew, she makes a list of all her best adventures to share with her future girlfriend. When she gets up to refill her glass, she hears it.
The hushed whispers between her two newest crew-mates. One of them questions her treasure finding abilities after the incident with the box, the other says that's she's gone soft; wanting to settle down and retire. She’ll show them soft alright.
Two minutes and a coil of rope later, the two gossiping pirates are on a holiday to wherever the sea takes them. For that letter is the greatest gift someone could have given a gal like her, a promise of a good drink and her love.
That is, if they're not too hungover. Idiots.
